The Stepping Out Program
We provide 6 to 12 months intensive Case Management, Group Programs and Housing for survivors to transition from homelessness and distress to independence, stability and empowered living.
An ethical and collaborative approach is applied to ensure programs recognise the social, environmental, emotional, physical, economic and cultural factors that influence the wellbeing of each individual.
Case Management Program
Case management provides the following resources and services:
- Aid in addressing the impacts of childhood sexual abuse on adult survivors
- Weekly support sessions
- Referral to specialist services for counseling
- Assistance in setting and achieving goals
- Education for future work, career planning and workplace development
- Information about housing applications
- Assistance with legal and family court matters
- Informal and crisis counseling [as well as information and referrals to 24 hour crisis services]
- Ongoing Outreach Program following transition to independent living
Group Program
Our group programs are designed to enhance communication, interpersonal skills and self-esteem to deal with issues of social isolation.
2011 group programs include:
- Stepping Out Moving On Group: provides weekly social interaction, leisure activities and self-development.
- Workforce Development: assistance and support with education for future work, upgrading resume and interview skills, job seeking strategies, assistance with work wardrobe, personal presentation and ongoing mentoring in the workforce.
- Unleash Your Spirit Within: assist clients to build skills for a balanced life by teaching women new coping and life skills, nutrition and fitness education, enhanced interpersonal skills and much more.
- Peer Empowerment Group: allows survivors the opportunity to receive peer support from current, outreach and former clients in a safe environment.
Outreach Program
Outreach programs enables survivors to have continuing support once they have progressed from our 6-12 month program to independent living. Former clients are provided with eight support sessions, weekly or monthly as required.
The main focus of our outreach program is to provide ensure ongoing support and resources to ensure a smooth transition back into the community and in to independent living.
